HELENSBURGH’S churches welcomed around 45 youngsters to this year’s week-long summer holiday club.

The committed team from Contraflow, the churches’ youth project, helped the children enjoy some high energy fun each day with aerobic workouts, team games and music videos.

They also crafted some fantastic items to take home after trying rock painting and making clay pots, picture frames and sand art.

The highlight of each day was the slapstick-filled drama featuring Sandy, Doug and June, and acted out by Tessa Charters, Andrew Stewart and Helen Buchanan, along with Gordon Weir as the Professor.

In the afternoons, 15 young people from P7 to S3 enjoyed their own activities, and both groups joined together on Thursday evening, along with family and friends, for games and food.

A spokesperson for Contraflow said: “Thanks go to a fantastic group of volunteers, especially the young leaders aged 15 to 17 who led the games, aerobics and memory verse sections.”

Contraflow continue to lead activities through the year and children are welcome to join in any after-school event or Scripture Union club at school.
