Here's how we reported the tale in the Advertiser on August 12, 2004...

HELENSBURGH could soon be driven up the pole by the town’s very own lap dancing club.
A woman has contacted Argyll and Bute Council over the possibility of setting up a club in the town, an official from the local authority said.
The potential venue for the club was undisclosed.
Susan Mair, the council’s head of legal services, said: “We’ve had a phone call from a woman inquiring generally about the process she would have to go through if she wanted to set up a lap dancing club but it has gone no further than that so far.”
