IT may not look like it judging by some of these photos, but Helensburgh’s Summer Festival - no, we’re not getting our seasons mixed up - took over the town centre at the weekend.

A typically dreich August day in Scotland failed to dampen the spirits of those who turned up to Colquhoun Square on Sunday, as they were spoiled for choice for food and drink.

Wood-fired pizza, sizzling hotdogs and ice cream helped fill up the hungry visitors, while a range of craft stalls featuring hand-made goodies also delighted customers.

Fiona Howard, from the Helensburgh and Lomond Chamber of Commerce, which helped organise the event, said: “It was very wet but very successful, regardless of the weather.

“The market was very busy although it was a bit more difficult for the fairground.

“The town was still full of people and while the decision has yet to be made, we would hope to do it again next year, with better weather of course.

“All the stall holders enjoyed it and said the atmosphere was good and many of them are booking up for the Winter Festival now.

“We want to thank everybody who came along and supported the event and we look forward to seeing you again.”
