RELATIVES of a late church elder have travelled half way across the world for a special homecoming celebration.

The family of Jack Gregor, who passed away last year, made the long journey from Hong Kong to Helensburgh to baptise his youngest grandson.

Jack was an elder of the town’s St Columba Church and died suddenly last October at the age of 78.

Alongside his wife Joyce, who passed away around a decade ago, they had both been dedicated members of the church for many years.

Their son Gordon and his wife Fiona have lived and worked in the Far East for several years, but decided to fly home for the ceremony.

Around 20 friends, relatives and members of the St Columba congregation gathered in the Gregor family home to witness the baptism of five-year-old Duncan.
