Woman, 83, taken to hospital after crash in Helensburgh

Police attended a report of a crash between two cars at the junction of West King Street and James Street at around 12.30pm on Sunday, August 18.

On arrival they saw a Vauxhall lying on its side at the mouth of James Street and a Honda off the road close by.

After calling an ambulance and ensuring the wellbeing of the cars’ occupants, police spoke to both drivers and witnesses to take details of the incident.

The woman, who had been driving the Honda, was conveyed to hospital as a precautionary measure.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a 27-year-old man from Bishopton, was charged with careless driving and with having two tyres which were below the legal tread limit.

A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
