THE fruits – and vegetables, and flowers, and plants – of a year’s worth of hard work by Helensburgh and Lomond’s gardeners will go on show in the town this weekend.
The occasion is the Helensburgh and Gareloch Horticultural Society’s annual flower and vegetable show, which will be held in the Victoria Halls on Sinclair Street on Saturday, August 24.
Doors open at 2pm, and the prizes for the show’s best exhibits will be presented at 3.30pm, giving plenty of time for you to take a leisurely wander around the exhibits – and perhaps to pick up a few helpful hints for your own garden too.
A spokeswoman for the society said: “This popular event exhibits not only plants, flowers and vegetables but also a children’s section, handicrafts and baking, so there really is something for everyone.”
“Come along and see what can be achieved in your garden. All are welcome to attend.”
If you’re enthused enough by what you see to want to become a member of the society, you can join on the day of the show or download a membership form from helensburghhorti.com, where you can also find out more about the society’s history and other upcoming events as well as read lots of helpful gardening advice.
