GARDENERS and growers from across Helensburgh and Lomond gathered at the Victoria Halls at the weekend for the Helensburgh and Gareloch Horticultural Society’s annual flower and vegetable show.

The occasion provided the perfect opportunity for fans of the outdoors to show off their colourful displays, with a range of prizes adding a competitive edge to the afternoon.

Morag Young, from the Helensburgh and Gareloch Horticultural Society, said: “We had a beautiful day on Saturday and despite the not so good weather in the run up to the show there were plenty of glorious flowers and amazing vegetables on display.

“Many familiar names featured in the prize-winning list and there were probably lots of people thinking “I really must enter next year”.

“The youth section was well supported with a young man winning prizes there and also showing in the adult section, he is possibly a major prize winner in the future.”
