HELENSBURGH mum Michelle Costello was one of a bevy of brave beauties who recently went a little bit burlesque.

But it was all in a good cause...as the girls were posing for a very special 2010 calendar which will be sold to raise funds for Combat Stress, which provides help for service personnel returning from the front line.

Michelle, whose Petty Officer husband Matthew is serving at Faslane, is a subscriber to the online forum British Forces Sweethearts, which provides the wives and girlfriends of current servicemen with a place to talk to other women in the same position.

And one online conversation led to a suggestion that some of the wives and girlfriends might get together to make up a special calendar to raise funds for the charity and Michelle volunteered to take part.

The photo shoot was organised by Alan Kelly, a member of the Disabled Photographers’ Society, and the studio time was provided by George Davidson of Barlow Studios in Chesterfield.

The photographers who took the portfolio of pictures for the calendar were Alan Raymond, Tom Molloy, chairman of the Disabled Photographers’ Society, June Hoyle, Adrian Davies, Terry Cartwright and Roy Hodgkiss.

The girls were made up by make up artists Becky Hunting and their hair was done by stylist Emma Buck.

Michelle said: “Alan Kelly was amazing, He arranged and paid for the studio and the make up artist and stylist out of his own pocket.

"We decided to choose a burlesque theme because of the BFS logo, and we all provided our own costumes, although some accessories were provided for us on the day.”

Michelle, who is mum to four year-old Freya and two year-old Tom, was the only volunteer from Scotland, and had to travel south for the photo shoot.
