FREE meals are to be offered to school age children across Helensburgh and Lomond during the October holiday.

The holiday lunch box scheme is being run by Helensburgh and Lomond Foodbank to help those in need over the fortnight-long break, which starts on Friday, October 4.

The food bank handed out more than 1,000 take-home hot meals during the school summer holidays, supporting 212 children who might have gone without vital supplies were it not for the lifeline service provided by the volunteers.

Collection dates for the next batch of free meals for school children are Monday, October 7 and Monday, October 14 between 1pm and 2pm at the Helensburgh Scout Hall in John Street, from the Rosneath Library on Clachan Road or from the Arrochar Surgery in Kirkfield Place.

One week’s worth of meals will be provided on each pick up date, with each child receiving one meal per day covering Monday to Friday.

If you would like to receive a holiday lunch box, email helensburghholidaylunchbox@gmail.com with details of which pick-up point you will be attending, how many school age children you require a lunch box for and on which dates you will be picking up your meals.
