Helensburgh Savoy Musical Theatre Group raised almost £500 towards the cost of their next stage show at a ‘Craft and Coffee’ event in the town on Saturday.

With homemade soup, home baking and bottomless cups of tea and coffee, it proved to be a real draw for people to pop in to browse the stalls, including a second hand book stall and Tombola, along with talented local artisans’ work from greetings cards, hand painted glassware, knitted items, woodcraft, photography, and jewellery.

The refreshments were served by the cast of the Savoy’s upcoming stage production of Legally Blonde the Musical, which will be performed in the Victoria Halls from November 6-9.

A lively comedy musical, packed with wonderful songs, ‘Legally Blonde – The Musical’ follows the unstoppable Elle as she topples each and every “dumb-blonde” stereotype all the way to Harvard Law School, where she transforms herself into a woman who can finally be taken seriously.

Savoy secretary Pauline Forrest said: “Helensburgh Savoy Musical Theatre Group would like to thank everyone who helped raise nearly £500 at a very successful Coffee and Craft sale on Saturday.

“All funds raised will go towards the staging of the show which, despite always trying to work within a ‘small’ budget, still costs thousands of pounds.

“So we are very grateful to our supporters who help keep us going.”
