A MULTI-MILLION pound cabin site at Ardgarten, near Arrochar, has been officially unveiled.

Roseanna Cunningham, environment minister, made the trip to the lochside resort on Monday to declare it open for business.

It is one project completed as part of an £8.5m investment programme into Scottish tourism, and the project alone is worth £2.1m.

The development - Forest Holidays Argyll - boasts 14 luxury timber cabins, and a further 14 will be available on completion.

The cabins are designed to blend into the natural landscape and environment.

But on the inside they boast sheer opulence, including a flat-screened TV, well equipped kitchen, BBQ and even an outdoor hot-tub for the more adventurous.

The two and three-bedroom cabins are also environmentally friendly, with ‘green’ technology, which will please those who pride themselves on being ‘green’ as they contain high efficiency log burners and internal wall and underfloor heating, rain forest harvesting, low energy appliances and excellent insulation levels.

Ms Cunningham said: “Scotland’s forests make an important contribution to our tourism industry, and this exciting new development makes the most of the stunning landscape in this part of the world.

“The completion of these cabins shows Forest Holidays confidence in the sector and it is sure to bring economic benefits to the local communities around Arrochar.”
