A FORMER sports journalist-turned author from Helensburgh is releasing his debut children’s book this month after being “badgered” by his daughters to write a story for them.

Robin Scott-Elliot’s mystical tale ‘The Tzar’s Curious Runaways’ is published on Thursday, October 17 and is the culmination of the stay-at-home dad’s work since moving to Helensburgh five years ago.

Father of two Robin told the Advertiser: “I gave up journalism to become a stay-at-home dad to try and give writing a go when we moved to Helensburgh.

"And, in between school runs, dance classes, swimming lessons etc, its finally worked - thanks to my girls Iona and Torrin.

“They’re pupils at Hermitage Academy (S1) and Hermitage Primary (P6) respectively and persuaded me to write a children’s novel.

“The result is The Tzar’s Curious Runaways, set in the court of Peter the Great it’s a historical adventure story with a little bit of fantasy mixed in."
