ALMOST £900 has been raised for charity after a Cardross coffee morning celebrating the 10th year of the K2 Together knitting group.

Members and visitors gathered at the village’s parish church on Saturday, October 5 to show off some of their latest creations and enjoy a blether over a cuppa.

Coordinator Rebecca MacLachlan said: “We were delighted to raise £888 for our chosen charities, CHAS, Erskine Hospital and Alzheimer Scotland.

“A huge thank you must go to everyone who contributed to its success.

“Our group started 10 years ago with only a few members and knitting for premature babies in special care baby units in our area.

"The premature baby clothes have also been gratefully received by families we have had a personal connection with and we were pleased to welcome some of them at our coffee morning.

“The group has gone from strength to strength and now over 20 ladies come along to our group, which meets at 7.30pm in Cardross Church hall on the second Tuesday of each month.

“The variety of knitting we do has also expanded.

“They say knitting is good for your blood pressure and it’s also very sociable activity when you are a member of a group such as ours.

"We all thoroughly enjoy meeting up to chat, exchange ideas and knit for such worthwhile causes. New members are always welcome.”
