STAND Up To Cancer campaigners in Helensburgh are preparing for one final fund-raising push this weekend with a spooktacular Hallowe’en themed event.

More than £11,000 has already been raised since the SU2C campaign began in August with a successful family festival at Hermitage Academy.

The last campaign event of 2019 takes place on Saturday, October 26 from 10am until 4pm, when staff at the Cancer Research shop on Sinclair Street will be joined by the Ghostbusters Of Glasgow, Police Scotland Youth Volunteers and Lomond School pupils to sell spooky cakes and shake collection buckets in store.

There will also be collection buckets in Tesco on Sinclair Street and around the town as the CRUK team attempt to top-up this year’s total.

In the seven years since SU2C began, the Helensburgh shop has raised more than £58,000, all of which goes on life saving research.

Assistant manager Alison Sturgeon said: “We would like to thank everyone who has supported us, from donations of money, food, equipment, printing, venues, manpower, PR and lots of hard work.

"We could not have done it without the people of Helensburgh and Lomond.

"Our shop team is small and mighty and we would love to increase our numbers. Call 01436 674547 or visit the shop.”
