HELENSBURGH and Lomond will fall silent for two minutes at war memorials and church services around the area this Sunday, November 10, to pay respect to those who died in the service of their country.

Details of Remembrance Day events taking place locally are as follows:

Cardross: Service of remembrance at the war memorial where the two minute silence will be observed.

Youth organisations will muster outside the church in Station Road at 10.45am and parade up to Main Street for the outdoor service. Afterwards they will parade back down Station Road and into the church for a service of worship.

Helensburgh: Youth and uniformed organisations will march from Hermitage Primary School to the war memorial in Hermitage Park for a service starting at 10.45am, followed by a two minute silence at 11am and the laying of wreaths. There will then be a service at 11.30am at Helensburgh Parish Church.

Rhu and Shandon: 10.30am at Rhu war memorial; 10.50am at Rhu and Shandon Parish Church; 12.10pm (approx) at Shandon war memorial.

Garelochhead: Service of remembrance at Garelochhead Parish Church at 10.45am.

Luss: Service will start in the church at 10.45am and the two-minute silence will be observed, then a procession will move up to the monument for the laying of wreaths.

Arrochar: Short service at Arrochar Parish Church, starting at 10am, then walk up to the war memorial just before 11am.

Rosneath: Service of remembrance in St Modan’s Parish Church at 10.45am.

Cove and Kilcreggan: Service at Craigrownie Parish Curch at 9.45am, followed by a commemoration at the war memorial at 10.50am. Refreshments will be served afterwards in Cove Burgh Hall.
