IT'S another packed weekend of community activities around Helensburgh and Lomond, with lots to do for all ages and in aid of lots of good causes.

Here's all you need to know about the events diary in the area for Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17...

Clothes sale

A ladies' 'nearly new' clothes sale will be held in the church hall at Rhu and Shandon Parish Church on Saturday, November 16 from 10am to 12.30pm in aid of Alzheimer Scotland.

Tea, coffee and home baking will all be available.

Hockey action

It's a double header of hockey action at Hermitage Academy on Saturday, November 16.

First up, Helensburgh Hockey Club's first team take on Rottenrow Blue Sox at 11.15am on Saturday, November 16 in a 'fourth v second' clash in West District Division One.

And Helensburgh's men will then be followed by the ladies of Loch Lomond's first XI, who host Clydesdale Western 4 at the same venue at 1pm.

Movie night

Helensburgh Parish Church is hosting its latest 'night at the movies' for chilren and young teens in the church's main hall on Saturday, November 16 at 7pm.

All are welcome – adults can stay or leave the children.

As with previous movie nights, it's a double bill, with a U or PG-rated family film followed by a 12A for the older children.

All leavers have PVG clearance. And there's free popcorn too!

Drama production

The Helensburgh and Lomond Young Carers group is staging A Young Carer's Dream – the results of a drama project undertaken over the last few months – at the Victoria Halls on Saturday, November 16 at 7pm.

Spiritual church

Sparkle of Light Spiritual Church is holding a spirit/art mediumship demonstration at Rhu and Shandon community centre on Saturday, November 16 from 7-10.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 and include refreshments; money will be donated to the Schiehallion day care unit.

Jazz concert

Cardross Parish Church is hosting a Jazz Cafe evening in the church halls on Saturday, November 16 at 7.30pm with live music from the Allander Jazz Band.

Admission is £8 and includes a light supper. All proceeds from the concert will go to Christian Aid.

Traditional music

This month’s Balloch Accordion and Fiddle Club session will be held on Sunday, November 17 in St Kessog’s Hall, Balloch, starting at 7.30pm.

Guest artists this month are the Craig McFadyen Trio from Oban. Craig won the senior accordion pipe march, strathspey and reel competition at the recent Scottish championships in Perth.

There will be tea, coffee and biscuits served at the interval, as well as a bar and raffle.

Everyone is welcome – players and non-players alike.
