POLICE are appealing for information to help trace three people in connection with an unprovoked assault on a man in Garelochhead.

A 36-year-old man was walking with another man along the B872, near the Garelochhead Coaches bus depot, heading in the direction of Faslane at around 9pm on Saturday, November 9 when a black Range Rover, or similar vehicle, is said to have pulled up alongside the pavement.

According to police, a male passenger in the car tried to speak to the two men, who walked on, before a second male passenger got out of the vehicle and punched the victim from behind to the side of the head.

As the victim turned, the suspect allegedly punched him again to the face causing him to fall over.

The victim sustained bruises and scratches as a result of the alleged assault.

The vehicle was reportedly driven by a female with dark hair, while the male suspect is described as being in his twenties, of slim build, with short dark hair and dark facial hair.

He is said to have been wearing a dark top and jeans with dark trainers at the time of the alleged attack.

The other male passenger is described as in his thirties, with dark hair.
