A BLEND of traditional Celtic folk and ‘Americana’ music is on the menu for an intimate gig in Helensburghnext week.

The members of The Shipping Forecast describe themselves as “a fusion of folk roots, Americana and traditional jigs and reels, carving out intricate, harmonic arrangements of traditional and Americana folk songs and tunes”.

They have shared the stage with an array of prominent artists within the folk scene including Jenn Butterworth and Laura Beth Salter, Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Hass, Rab Noakes and The Battlefield Band.

Recent performances include The The Star Folk Club, The Twa Tams and Gig in the Goil, The Spree and Celtic Connections.

The Shipping Forecast will take to the stage at the Mackintosh Club in Sinclair Street on Thursday, January 23 at 7.30pm.
