HELENSBURGH'S RNLI lifeboat crew rescued a fishing vessel in distress near Dunoon last week.

Shortly before 1pm on Monday, February 4, the RNLI lifeboat, based at Rhu Marina, was launched at the request of HM Coastguard to give assistance to the boat, which had fouled its propeller and was drifting without a means of propulsion.

The crew of three were deemed to be at risk, and the potential danger was heightened by the fact that the vessel was close to established ferry routes.

No other vessels were able to help at the time and the Helensburgh team eventually made contact before taking the boat and its occupants in tow at 1.30pm.

The boat was taken to Gourock, where it was safely secured, before the lifeboat returned to the Helensburgh station just after 3pm.
