VINTAGE ragtime jazz from the 1920s and 1930s is on the musical menu in Helensburgh this weekend at the penultimate concert in Helensburgh Music Society’s 2019-20 programme.
John Burgess, Ross Milligan and Andy Sharkey – collectively known as The Ugly Bug Ragtime Three – are among Scotland’s finest jazzers, describing themselves as “the wee band with the big sound”.
Romantic ballads rub shoulders with rags and stomps by Jelly Roll Morton and Fats Waller and blues drenched standards band-up against swinging show tunes. – a treat for the heart and feet in equal measure!
