MEMBERS of the dedicated group for Helensburgh's over-60s say they're not going to let the coronavirus crisis stop them celebrating Easter over the next week-and-a-bit – and in fact, they're inviting the whole community to join in.

Grey Matters members always celebrate Easter with a party and a parade of Easter bonnets they've made themselves.

And while the group won't be able to gather in person to have a party and compare each other's natty headgear, they'll still be making their own Easter bonnets – and this year, for the first time, they want you to get involved too.

The competition is open to everyone, whether or not you're over 60.

Care homes are also being encouraged to take part, and co-ordinator Alison Gildea says she hopes to connect families living far away with relatives in Helensburgh by creating Easter bonnets from hundreds, or even thousands, of miles away.

The results will be shared online after the closing day on Easter Sunday, April 12.

Co-ordinator Alison Gildea said: "From now until Easter Sunday, let’s all get busy and make some cracking bonnets to cheer us all up.

"Send your photos to gmactiveageing@gmail.com or via Facebook Messenger.

"We'll feature them on our Facebook page, and hopefully you will share them far and wide too."
