TRADITIONAL Easter egg hunts may have been curtailed by the coronavirus lockdown – but one kind-hearted Helensburgh pupil ensured his friends and neighbours still got their chocolate fix at the weekend.

Eight-year-old Zachary Hislop decided to help other children in the community who are struggling with not being able to see each other by hiding more than 70 Easter eggs near his home in William Street on Sunday.

The Hermitage Primary youngster placed a sign outside his house inviting passers-by to help themselves to the sweet treats, if they were lucky enough to find them.

Mum Katie told the Advertiser: "Just seeing some of his friends enjoy this was lovely for him.

"At a time when Zachary is finding it particularly difficult being stuck indoors and missing school, rugby and football, it made a big difference to his day.

"He made sure everyone remembered their social distancing and even remembered sanitisers and hand gels.

"We were due to spend Easter in Wales with four cousins from Sweden and France and grandpa, so because we couldn't go there he decided to share his eggs with his community.

"I couldn't be prouder of him."
