HELENSBURGH'S young people are being urged to join in the community's efforts to support those in greatest need during the coronavirus pandemic.

The call comes from the Argyll and Bute Third Sector Interface (TSI), the umbrella body for the area's volunteer organisations, which has teamed up with Argyll and Bute Council to run the 'Volunteer Argyll and Bute' initiative, co-ordinating community support efforts during the lockdown.

The TSI said in a post on Facebook: "Are you aged between 17 and 25?

"Volunteers across Argyll and Bute are needed to support the Caring for People Teams in response to coronavirus.

"You can log up to 100 hours of coronavirus volunteering towards your Saltire Awards too!"

People of all ages – not just those aged from 17-25 – can register to join up with the area's volunteering effort at the Volunteer Argyll and Bute website, where organisations who are looking for volunteers can also sign up as a provider.
