A MOBILE testing unit for people with symptoms of Covid-19 will be available in Helensburgh this week.

Those who are showing symptoms of coronavirus and are key workers, cannot work from home, are over 65 or are household members of any of these groups will be able to book a test through the UK Government's online system.

The Helensburgh site will be located at the town's pier car park and testing will be available from 10am on Tuesday, May 19 until Thursday, May 21.

The current schedule of locations for the mobile testing units (MTU), which are being run by the Army, this week can be viewed on the Scottish Rural Network website by searching for ruralnetwork.scot/covid-19-information-hub.

The schedule is subject to change in dates and operating hours - to see the most up-to-date locations of your nearest MTUs you should check the booking portal. When you go through the booking process you will be asked for your home postcode and a list of your nearest test sites will be displayed.

Tests can be booked through the UK Government’s online system - you can access the booking portal here: self-referral.test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/.

In updated guidance issued on Monday by the UK's chief medical officers, anyone suffering from a loss of normal taste or smell - known as anosmia - should self-isolate at home for seven days.

Other common symptoms include a new or continuous cough or fever.
