A litter of five new puppies at Glasgow's Dogs Trust have been allocated names thanks to votes from the general public.

More than 15,000 people turned out on the charity's social media channels last week - where all five puppies now have homes, as well as names.

The terrier pups are now called: Hope, Hero, Sunny, Rainbow and Joy.

Thankfully, one puppy narrowly missed being called 'Lockdown' after the name was pitched by members of the public.

The litter of five Terrier pups were born at the Uddingston centre six weeks ago, after their mother was found as a stray by local authorities while heavily pregnant.

Named Linda by members of staff at the charity, she has now been receiving lots of TLC and has fully recovered from her ordeal.

The charity’s Canine carers have also been giving the puppies round the clock care, to make sure they remain as healthy as possible.

As the team have now gone through all the applications and picked suitable adopters, the puppies are now waiting patiently until it is time to go home with their new owners.

Sandra Lawton, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, said: “It is great the public got so actively involved in the poll and I’m thrilled the pups have all been given such positive names, as we need a little optimism during the current crisis.

"We are fortunate to have such passionate supporters; and although not everyone who expressed an interest in the puppies has been able to get one, we ask that they be patient as their perfect canine companion could be right around the corner.”
