Across Scotland there were 70 more fatalities between June 8 and June 14, a further slowing of the progress of the pandemic as the country eases lockdown restrictions. It is the seventh weekly fall in deaths in a row.

A total of 32 excess deaths - deaths above the five-year average - were recorded. Half of all registered deaths involving Covid-19 up to June 14 occurred in care homes, and the number of deaths in care homes fell for a seventh week, by seven to 35.

In neighbouring West Dunbartonshire, one life was lost to Covid-19 in the week to June 14, taking the total for that area to 122.

That death happened in hospital; there have been no further deaths in West Dunbartonshire care homes since May.

The weekly statistics account for all deaths registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

They differ from the lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths announced daily by the Scottish Government because they include suspected or probable cases of Covid-19.
