A ROSNEATH resident has been keeping kids creative throughout lockdown by making free craft kits for local children.

Autumn Brown started off at Easter with a Tupperware box holding free children’s masks on her doorstep, readily available for local kids to take as they please.

Autumn told the Advertiser: “I used to make craft kits years ago for schools, so I set up my wallpaper paste table and started doing a ‘weekly craft kit’.

“I make up between 50 and 100 kits, depending on if it’s children only, or if it’s for adults too.”

Rosneath residents have also donated generously to Autumn’s cause, and with charity shops in the area closed due to lockdown limits, it’s been ideal for locals who want to get rid of their unwanted items – and provides the community with something for free.

“I decided that since I had a table outside, it would make sense to use it to an advantage,” Autumn continued, “so I started asking for donations of books, toys, games and so on.

“I now have a huge market stall in my front garden full of items, where everyone – young and old – can help themselves to items for free.”

Autumn has also been busy making face masks for the community and has now made around 1,400 since lockdown began.

As well as setting up garden stalls in the garden, Autumn has been selling plants there too, with all proceeds going to the Rosneath Community Garden project.

“Again, people have been great donating plants for the project,” she said.

“I decided to run an art competition just for a change from the craft kids.

“First, second and third got a trophy and certificate, though my daughter pointed out the prizes should have been sweets – lesson learned for next year!

“It would be lovely to make this an annual event with the whole of Argyll and Bute being able to participate.”
