A GROUP of Helensburgh Brownies helped set a world record 15 years ago – and the Advertiser was there to help mark the occasion.
The 22 members of the local pack took part in the biggest ever 'sleep-over', with 35,000 people taking part from youth groups across the world in an event which made it into the Guinness Book of Records.
In our edition of June 30, 2005, we reported how the Burgh Brownies had set up camp in the Guide Hall on John Street on the night of June 18.
Despite the huge storm that night, an excellent time was had by all.
Some of the girls were sponsored for the event with money being donated to Girl Guides Scotland and Childline.
