A FULL timetable will resume on the ferry link between Kilcreggan and Gourock next week, operator Caledonian MacBrayne has announced.

The service has been operating to a restricted timetable, with only three return trips per day on weekdays and no Saturday service, since before the pandemic lockdown came into force in March.

But CalMac Ferries Ltd, which took over operation of the route on June 1, has announced that a full Monday-Saturday timetable will be in operation from Wednesday, July 15.

The state-owned firm took over operation of the route from Clyde Marine Services (CMS) on June 1, when oversight of the service passed to Transport Scotland from the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, though it’s continuing to lease the regular ferry on the route, MV Chieftain, from CMS.

Meanwhile, the local bus services operated by Garelochhead Coaches and Wilson’s of Rhu have already begun returning to their pre-lockdown levels.

The 315 (Helensburgh-Churchill) route is running to the pre-lockdown timetable but with no service after 7pm, while the 316 (Helensburgh-Garelochhead-Kilcreggan-Coulport) route has also been increased to pre-Covid levels but with slight changes in the early morning; the last buses are at 7pm from Coulport and 8pm from Helensburgh.

First Bus has also reintroduced a half-hourly timetable on its 1B service between Helensburgh, Dumbarton and Glasgow.

Social distancing measures are in place on all public transport services, locally and nationally, while the wearing of face masks remains mandatory.
