A MAN has been arrested by police after a member of the public reported a person in possession of a knife on Helensburgh's seafront.

The report said a man had been seen armed with the blade in West Clyde Street at around 12.15pm on Monday, July 20.

According to police, officers traced and arrested a 25-year-old man a short time later in connection with the alleged incident.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
