The SNP Government has made many mistakes throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, for which they will be held to account once inquiries begin.

The scandal of the SQA results is just another to add to the list.

It was a huge error on their part. They have managed to preside over a complete shambles, which victimises pupils due to the affluence of the area where they go to school.

Academic or practical ability are not related to wealth, so results should not be based on this.

It is disgusting how the SNP have treated our young people and disadvantaged those from less well-off areas.

Nicola Sturgeon has said if it was her she would have protested. Who would she have protested against – herself?

The First Minister doesn’t even seem to be aware the problems have come from her government or, like everything else, doesn’t want to accept any responsibility.

I am glad they have done a U-turn and awarded these pupils with their expected grades. The situation should never have arisen in the first place, though.

Fourteen years of power, with constantly declining results, tell the story she doesn’t want to tell.

Scottish education which was the envy of the world when they came to power, now it’s in below Somalia.

It’s our children and grandchildren who are going to suffer the most under this separatist regime. Time for a change for the better.

As restrictions have been easing and life allowed to resume in some form, we must remain alert to the risks.

We have seen local restrictions imposed upon Aberdeen due to cases rising again.

It takes all of us to play our part to suppress the virus and help keep us all safe.

Another lockdown is something we don’t want to see. Services must resume as normal now to minimise the knock-on effects.

Saturday was the anniversary of VJ Day, the day that signalled the end of the Second World War 75 years ago.

There have been many celebrations and memorials over the past year, which are very important to mark.

So many of our people gave, or risked, their lives for the freedom we enjoy today and I hope that is never forgotten, nor the current work the British forces do daily to keep us safe.
