A MAN is accused of assaulting three of his family members, including one to their severe injury and permanent disfigurement, at a home in Helensburgh.

Ross Bernard, 41, of Stoneyflatt Road, in Dumbarton, appeared from custody at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Tuesday, August 25.

His lawyer told the court that Mr Bernard is pleading not guilty to four charges against him relating to an incident that allegedly took place at an address in Talisman Crescent in Colgrain on the evening of Wednesday, April 1.

Mr Bernard is accused of punching his nephew on the head, and striking him with a glass bowl, to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

A second charge alleges that Mr Bernard pushed his mother on the body in the course of the incident, while a third accuses him of maliciously damaging a TVset and a mirror.

Prosecutors also claim that Mr Bernard shouted, swore, demanded money, threw household items at his sister, and refused to leave the property when asked to do so.

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry continued the matter until September 22 and ordered Mr Bernard be remanded in custody.
