ARGYLL and Bute Council has confirmed that no new cases of Covid-19 have been reported among pupils at Helensburgh's Hermitage Academy.

Two students, one in S2 and another in S4, were confirmed as having tested positive for the virus earlier this week, with the local authority previously saying there is "no evidence of transmission within the school itself".

Parents had been urged to "stay calm" and keep sending their children to school and the council reiterated that message following today's announcement.

A council statement on Friday afternoon said: "NHS Highland Health Protection Team has confirmed there are no new Covid cases associated with the school.

"The school remains open and appropriate control measures remain in place.
