TWO alleged drug drivers were caught by police in separate incidents at almost exactly the same location within two hours.

Officers received a call at around 10.30am on Friday, September 11 from a concerned motorist relating to the manner of driving of a red Honda Civic, which was heading south on the A82 towards Tarbet.

The driver, identified as a 25-year-old man from Glasgow, was allegedly found with a personal amount of cannabis after being stopped and searched at the side of the road.

Following a drug swab test – which reportedly returned a positive result for the substance – he was arrested and taken to Clydebank police office before being released. The man has been reported to the procurator fiscal.

An hour and 15 minutes later, at nearly the same location on the A82, another man was also arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of drugs.

Around 11.45am, near to Firkin Point, officers stopped a blue Peugeot and carried out a roadside test for drugs on the 39-year-old driver from Paisley.

The test was positive for cannabis, according to police, and the man was arrested for driving while under the influence of a controlled drug.

He was taken to Clydebank police office before being released and reported to the procurator fiscal for alleged possession of cannabis and driving while under the influence of a controlled substance.
