A ROSNEATH man was arrested for a number of alleged drug and driving offences.

Ministry of Defence police officers stopped a white van on the A814 near Shandon at around 3am on Tuesday morning, September 8 having been concerned about the manner of the driving.

The vehicle was reportedly swerving across the road and once stopped, the male driver was said to have appeared impaired.

Police Scotland officers attended the scene and identified the man as a 33-year-old from Rosneath.

A breath test reportedly confirmed that he had no alcohol in his system, however, as a result of his clear impairment, according to officers, he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

After being taken to Clydebank police office the driver was searched, resulting in the alleged recovery of a quantity of heroin and a number of Valium tablets.

The accused was then examined by a doctor who reportedly confirmed the male was unfit to drive.

He was later released and reported to the procurator fiscal for allegedly driving while under the influence of drugs, careless driving, possession of Valium and possession of heroin with the intent to supply to another person.
