LEISURE services in Helensburgh and Lomond have made a very positive return to action since they were allowed to re-open, the charitable trust in charge has said.

Live Argyll resumed some of its operations across Argyll and Bute from Monday, August 31, two weeks earlier than had been expected.

And a spokesperson for the trust said that it had “led the way in Scotland” by re-opening leisure facilities as soon as the Scottish Government gave the go-ahead.

The spokesperson said: “Leisure facilities are often run by the local council or by a charitable trust. They all operate independently so have reached different decisions about how and when to re-open.

“Live Argyll, like many providers, is not run for profit. In some cases around Scotland trusts have highlighted that it’s just not financially viable to re-open everything in the current climate.

“However, Live Argyll, with support from Argyll and Bute Council, has put the health and wellbeing of its community first, ahead of the significant costs and the economic uncertainty of the current situation.

“Many gyms have moved equipment to areas with more space to allow users to social distance and the feedback from customers has been great so far.”
