THE funeral of Rhu teenager Kirk Allan will be held next week.

The 19-year-old's body was discovered at a property in Helensburgh on July 25 after police received a report of a concern for a person in the early hours of the morning.

Kirk's loss rocked the local community but friends, relatives and online supporters rallied round his family by raising more than £15,000 in the days after his death.

A message shared on behalf of the family by James Auld Funeral Directors said: "It is with much sadness that we announce the arrangements for the late Kirk Allan, a greatly loved son, brother, uncle and friend.

"In line with current restrictions Kirk's funeral will be held in private on Wednesday, October 7.

"The cortege will leave the family home in Rhu at 11.45am.

"Friends wishing to pay their respects can do so from a social distance as the cortege travels from Barge Court on to Manse Brae and then on to the main A814 road along the seafront through Helensburgh."

Kevin Murray, 30, was later charged with murder and made no plea after appearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court. He was also charged with being in possession of an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed in a public place.
