HELENSBURGH Football Club has launched a fund-raising lottery to help it tackle the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The club’s usual fund-raising initiatives have had to be cancelled as a result of public health measures aimed at controlling the spread of Covid-19.

Now the club – which runs teams at various youth age group levels as well as an adult amateur side – has teamed up with the ‘Our Club Lottery’ initiative, and is hoping that people in the town will sign up to support the club and have a chance of winning the jackpot.

Secretary Sam Gemmell said: “With the season now starting back for the players the cost of registrations to leagues and the governing bodies had to be paid, as well as the cost of hiring the facilities we use from the council.

“We have always tried to keep the cost to the parents of our players as low as possible, as we know how much it can all mount up when the kids are training and playing every week.”

The draw takes place every Wednesday at 8pm (the entry deadline is 12 noon the same day) and it costs £1 a week to enter. All the money goes into the club. Enter online at ourclublotto.co.uk/play/helensburghfc.
