Pupils at St Joseph’s Primary in Helensburgh enjoyed some spook-tacular fun with a Hallowe’en parade last Friday.

It was business as usual at the school with children from P4-7 and the Pre-5 unit enjoying showing off their Hallowe’en costumes to the other students by parading round outside class by class in keeping with the current social distancing rules.

Children enjoyed a day of Hallowe’en activities and the local Co-op supermarket received a message of thanks after providing the school with apples and, at no extra cost, tangerines.

Primary 1 to 3, although self-isolating following confirmed Covid cases involving a pupil and a teacher, were able to take part in the activities digitally.

Meanwhile, at Cardross Primary pupils enjoyed a Hallowe’en-themed trail through the village, organised by the Cardross Primary School Association (CPSA).

Keith West from the CPSA said: “Last weekend the CPSA organised a village Hallowe’en trail in lieu of their normal disco held in the school which was cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.

“The aim of this was to both raise funds for the school and ensure that the children didn’t miss out on the festivities.

“Local residents assisted by decorating their houses and gardens to allow a socially distanced walk and a map was produced to assist in finding the properties.

“Although no guising was permitted, and the weather was against us, the pupils who took part had great fun dressing up and spotting all the decorations.”

“Many thanks to the CPSA organisers, residents who assisted and all those who took part.”
