EU citizens living in Helensburgh and Lomond are being urged to apply as soon as possible for settled or pre-settled status to be sure of keeping their residence after Brexit.

Following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, EU citizens living in communities across Argyll and Bute are being strongly advised to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme if they want to stay living in the area.

While the official deadline is June 30, 2021, the situation is not straightforward both in the event of a possible ‘no deal’ Brexit and as far as an applicant’s continuing rights to benefits, housing and other services after December 31, 2020 are concerned.

Citizens Advice Scotland is urging applicants to ensure they have applied before the end of the year or to get in touch for advice.
