CHRISTMAS shoppers in Helensburgh showed that you don’t need an enclosed mall for the authentic festive retail experience as they headed to an open-air market at the town’s Civic Centre last weekend.
The two-day fair, on Saturday and Sunday, was hosted by Argyll and Bute Council and organised by Scottish Stall Hire and Events, the company behind the regular markets held in Colquhoun Square throughout the year, and was attended by many of the familiar faces from the Colquhoun Square event - with a little bit extra added in as independent businesses looked to capture a slice of the town’s Christmas shopping appetite.

And inspiration wasn’t limited to present-buyers, with the aromas of mulled wine, hot chocolate, coffees and wood-fired pizzas tempting the tastebuds of shoppers of all ages.
One shopper took to the Civic Centre’s page on Facebook afterwards to praise the hosts and organisers.
Jayne F. Jones said: “Well done to everyone - it was a lovely day, with lots of safety measures, sanitising stations, distancing and face masks even though it was outdoors. Roll on the next one!”
