SANTA’S little helpers in Helensburgh and Lomond raised thousands of pounds for a local rescue charity over the festive period.
Individuals, groups and sports clubs took part in the RNLI’s ‘Reindeer Run’ and ‘Santa Saunter’ throughout December, collecting more than £2,300 for the Helensburgh lifeboat branch.
Among those who supported the initiative were Lomond School S5 pupils, the Helensburgh Youth Rugby U15s, who raised £135, and the ladies at Cardross Golf Club, who enjoyed a game of golf and raised more than £150.
Linda Pender, chair of the RNLI Helensburgh fund-raising committee, said: “We are overwhelmed with the fantastic response to our Reindeer Run.

“It was great to see so many people getting into the spirit and running, walking or strolling to raise money for the lifeboat. A big thank you to everyone.
“Like many charities last year was a challenge for us with almost all the organised fund-raising events cancelled for 2020.
“We are hoping to run similar events to the Reindeer Run during the first few months of 2021 in line with Covid restrictions. Look out for details on our website, Facebook or in the Advertiser.”
