A FORMER bed and breakfast in Helensburgh which was badly damaged in a deliberate fire is set to go up for auction next week.
The former Killin Cottage guest house in Lomond Street is to be put under the hammer by SDL Property Auctions in an online event on Thursday, January 28.
The auction catalogue gives the property a guide price in excess of £55,000, plus fees.
The building has lain empty since it was severely damaged in December 2017 in an incident police later said was being treated as wilful fire-raising.
The auction catalogue describes the building as "a substantial property, significantly fire damaged and now suitable for redevelopment".
It also states: "The property has not been inspected and is sold as seen, without any internal viewings.
"Interested parties are advised to contact Argyll and Bute [Council] directly, for any building/planning enquiries."
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service personnel attended a report of a fire at the property at 1.24am on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
The B&B's owner, Franca Bianchet, her two children, and two guests all escaped from the building without injury.
An online crowdfunder for the family later raised more than £3,000, while clothes and other items were also donated to help them get back on their feet.
The fire happened less than 24 hours after the devastating blaze at the Cameron House Hotel near Loch Lomond in which two guests died.
Prospective bidders must register for next week's auction at sdlauctions.co.uk/remote-telephone-proxy-bidding/ no later than 12 noon on Wednesday, January 27.
The auction will be live streamed from 10.30am on Thursday, January 28 at eigpropertyauctions.co.uk/live-stream/auction/sdl-property-auctions-national.
