POLICE in Helensburgh are hunting a brazen thief who reportedly broke into a town centre chemist at the weekend.

A man allegedly forced entry into the Boots store in Sinclair Street at around 9.20pm on Saturday, January 24, taking various items before fleeing the scene.

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses following the theft.

The suspect is described as wearing dark clothing at the time, with a dark hat and dark face covering.

He is said to have approached the shop from the direction of Clyde Street, before forcing open the bottom glass panel to the door and entering.

Police say he took various items from the store, left via the same door window and made off north, towards Princes Street.
