A 41-YEAR-OLD man was arrested last week in connection with reports of thefts from two Helensburgh town centre stores.

Police had been hunting a thief who broke into the town’s Boots chemist in Sinclair Street and reportedly stole several bottles of whisky from the nearby Co-op supermarket.

The suspect was said to have forced entry to Boots on Saturday night, January 24, taking various items including perfume and an electric toothbrush, before fleeing the scene.

A male of similar description also targeted the Co-op on two separate occasions days before the Boots thefts, removing a number of bottles of alcohol from open displays and leaving without paying for the goods.
