A TOURISM industry expert has joined the team at a recently-launched Helensburgh enterprise to try to promote the recovery of local businesses post-pandemic.

Ciorsdan Taylor has taken on the role of freelance marketing officer at Destination Helensburgh, which was established last year with hopes of opening a permanent town centre hub in Sinclair Street around Easter time, once lockdown restrictions ease.

Ciorsdan (pronounced Kirsten) will be working part-time to support the organisation and over the coming weeks will be contacting a range of Helensburgh and Lomond businesses to research what their current plans are, how they have been affected by Covid restrictions, and how they can work together to help the area and tourism sector recover and thrive.

As a qualified project manager Ciorsdan has experience in marketing and tourism, and also owns an art gallery and coffee shop in the village of Blairmore, near Dunoon, which is directly opposite Cove on the Rosneath peninsula.

She has been an active member of Visit Cowal - the local destination marketing organisation for her business - for around five years and has worked closely with the Argyll and Isles Tourism Cooperative (AITC), as well as with many other organisations and initiatives.

Ciorsdan moved from London to Dunoon five years ago, and she is said to be “very passionate about promoting the wonders Argyll has to offer”.

She will be specifically looking at how Destination Helensburgh (DH) can help coordinate efforts to market and promote the area to both residents and tourists, and what benefits would encourage businesses to work with DH.
