A 15-YEAR-OLD boy reportedly caused £100 worth of damage by deliberately sabotaging an advertising sign in a Helensburgh street.

A company employee, who was sat within his vehicle near to his workplace in East Princes Street, allegedly watched a male youth loitering at advertising boards on Thursday evening, February 11.

As the man looked over to the youth, the teen is said to have ripped open an advertising sign using an implement, and then made off from the scene as the witness phoned the police.

Officers attended immediately and after a short chase apprehended the youth, who was verbally abusive to the officers.

The culprit, identified as a 15-year-old from Dumbarton, was taken home and charged with vandalism and a disorder offence.
