POLICE in Helensburgh say they are following a positive line of enquiry following a break-in attempt at Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Football Club's premises in the town.

Officers attended an alarm activation at the club, in Rhu Road Higher, at around 1.40am on Wednesday, February 17.

A door was found to be damaged and, according to police, it appeared that entry had been gained to the building.

A key holder was called to attend the building and a search carried out with the assistance of a police dog handler confirmed that no-one was within and nothing had been taken.

Following police enquiries a witness was identified and private CCTV was seized, and police say they are now following a positive line of enquiry regarding the person responsible after a vehicle was observed near to the location at the time of the alleged break-in.

A forensic examination was also completed and fingerprints were found which may assist in the identification of the suspect.
