THE four-star Knockderry House Hotel in Cove is up for sale at offers over £1.5 million.
The 15 bedroom William Leiper-designed country house on the shore of Loch Long has been owned by Murdo and Beth MacLeod for two decades, however new owners are now being sought for the historic property.
The online listing by estate agents Savills states: "Having bought the property in 2001, the owners have sympathetically restored and converted this outstanding building into one of the finest country house hotels in the area with a setting and external appeal, second to none.
"Trading with a four-star accolade from the AA and Visit Scotland and two AA Rosettes for its culinary delights, the sale of Knockderry House Hotel offers an exceptional business opportunity, very rarely on the open market."
The listing states that the property could "easily be returned to its former splendour as a privately owned mansion house".
It adds: "The features throughout, given the architectural heritage, are naturally most impressive.
"Magnificent wood panelling, decorative ceiling roses and cornicing, handsome fireplaces and beautiful bay windows are just a few of the features displayed throughout the property.
"The room proportions are generous and with equally well-proportioned windows the property is bright and airy; combined with warm tones of oak and mahogany and numerous open fires, the property has a wonderfully comfortable and soothing ambiance as well as a pleasing period elegance.
"Every bedroom is accompanied by a well-appointed bathroom, with a number of roll top baths, slipper baths and spacious shower rooms.
"Externally the property is very striking in appearance with a stone and timber finish, a slate roof, and numerous turrets and spires; it is an exceptional and imposing mansion sitting centrally within its own grounds.
"To the front and side of the property there is a sweeping gravel driveway and courtyard bordering a large expanse of lawn with views across to Loch Long.
"Knockderry is enchanting and inimitable and presents a truly unique opportunity for the next occupant to begin the next chapter in its proud history."
The hotel was established as a bespoke function venue, able to cater for smaller weddings or meetings with circa 50-60 guests/delegates comfortably, and in the past larger functions have taken place with the use of a marquee in the grounds.
Four moorings on Loch Long with direct access to the beach are also included in the sale.
