Five people were handed fines for breaching coronavirus rules after police were called to reports of 'loud music' and a 'party' at an Irvine property.

The incident happened on Sunday, March 14, with officers attending a house on the town's Brown Walk.

Police issued fixed penalty notices to five individuals aged between 18 and 43 who were all in the property.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "About 10:10am on March 14, 2021, police received reports of loud music and a party within a property on Brown Walk, Irvine.

"Police attended and gained entry to the property where five people, aged between 18 and 43, were issued with fixed penalty notices for breaching the COVID-19 legislation."

The spokesperson added: "Although a route-map out of lockdown has been published by the Scottish Government, we are at a critical time in terms of reducing transmission of coronavirus and we would encourage everyone to assist our partners in public health by adhering to the current restrictions."
